A partnership between Kellas Midstream and SSE Thermal

H2NorthEast will help unlock a sustainable net zero transition for the UK.

Kellas Midstream is an independent energy infrastructure company that develops, operates and invests in critical energy infrastructure assets in the Central and Southern North Sea, including the CATS (Central Area Transmission System) terminal in Teesside that alone transports and processes around a quarter of all UK gas production.

SSE Thermal operates an industry-leading fleet of flexible power generation and energy storage assets, and is working on cutting-edge carbon capture and hydrogen solutions across the UK including both blue and green hydrogen production, hydrogen storage and hydrogen power generation

As the energy industry continues its transition to net zero, Kellas and SSE are embarking on low carbon hydrogen initiatives that will significantly contribute to industry decarbonisation and domestic energy security and support the UK’s 2050 net zero targets.

H2NorthEast: delivering low carbon hydrogen

Kellas transports and processes over 40% of the UK’s natural gas production.
H2NorthEast will play a vital role in decarbonising energy intensive industries.
SSE Thermal is developing pioneering hydrogen projects across the value chain.
